Warren, Will, and Dave met years ago. They all shared a common love for music. Dave and Warren formed a band to play jazz standards and forced Will to join. Soon after, the focus shifted from jazz to rock and the Vultures were formed. Warren plays the guitar and sings on occasion. Will plays the bass. Dave plays drums. Their influences range far and wide, causing the resulting music to walk the fine line between punk, skate-surf, and sludge. To see them play live is like a sonic assault that will leave you happily brutalized. Drawing from their love of free form and improv, every set is different. Their songs are constantly evolving.
This record is a document of what the Vultures do.

The big day is here. Quiet Life "Big Green" LP is ready for some pre-orders. The boys of Quiet Life have come a long way (both as musicians and distance-wise) since their last release. Big Green is some of their best work to date, displaying great folk/country songwriting skills. Their songs are down-home and owe a lot to the Pacific Northwest which is their new home and muse. Get ready, y'all! The new Fake Babies record is ready for mass consumption. The early press has been pretty awesome. CTindie called it, "An album people will fuck to for years to come" and Deli Magazine made some wild claims about the Babies sounding like a Devo obsessed time traveling Can (the band, not an actual can). We're pretty sure though, that after just one listen, you'll agree this isn't just hype. Want in? click the little buy now button and preorder yourself a copy. The record release show is going down on the 29th, but we'll mail out preorders early for you. We pressed 300 copies of the LP, hand numbered them, and included CDs in the packaging.

Emulating the same punk rock DIY attitude and sloppy lo-fi records that helped shaped their youth, New Haven's the Estrogen Highs crank out blown-out catchy garage rock. After a series of killer singles and full lengths on Telephone Explosion, Deadbeat, Never Heard of It and the tastily titled Milk n' Herpes Records, the boys deliver their special dose of jangley controlled chaos to the Cycles EP for Safety Meeting. Taking nods from such bands as the Wipers, the Nuggets, and the Gories, they bring a "less is more" aesthetic to their song writing, hammering out infectious riffs with intense sloppy precision. Their music is honest, loud, and completely intoxicating, burrowing into the brain like a parasite.

This November, Safety Meeting is releasing the Blood Warrior LP for mass consumption. We feel that this record is going to move fast, so put this on your calendar, there are only 300 copies pressed. Of course, every record we sell is hand numbered and includes a CD in the jacket. Here's a little something about the band:
Blood Warrior is the culmination of a life long collaborative desire between Greg Jamie (O'Death), Joey Weiss (Super Monster), Kristin Kellas and Rubin Berger (Musee Mecanique, Laura Gibson, Mirah).
Based in New York but made up of members who spend most of their time on the road internationally, Blood Warrior is a unique take on indie-folk and more traditional music of the Americas. Started as a recording project at Greg Jamie's childhood home and finished at a home studio in Portland, OR, the band has now realized their music in a live setting. Blood Warrior's distinct sound, consisting of guitars, casios, chord organs, autoharp, marching drums, lots of percussion and four part vocal harmonies, is ripe with unexpected hooks while nodding to roots in folk, gospel and psychedelia. Blood Warrior may be a new band, but they have already been featured on My Old Kentucky Blog, NYC Taper, Hillytown, Slowcoustic, Exploding in Sound, Burlington Music Journal and more.

The first Underground of the school year features performances by local heroes Fake Babies and If Jesus Had Machine Guns, with a live build by Silas Finch.

Fake Babies were recently named the best band in Connecticut as part of The Boston Phoenix's 50 Bands in 50 States, pitting them against the likes of Sleigh Bells and Wavves in an online race to the top. Fake Babies have also shared the stage with Yeasayer, Indian Jewelry, Light Asylum (DJ), These Are Powers, Nite Jewel, Kingdom, Suckers and Dead Meadow. We're doing up a benefit show for Jamie Saxton, longtime friend and area musician (Beer Scouts,Five9Five, & Tijuana Hot Cocks), who is currently wrestling with cancer. Our hope is to put a lot of people in a room, get some good music going, some raffling, and some good times and hopefully our proceeds will help ease the burden on the Saxtons during an already difficult time. The Mountain Movers

The Mountain Movers were started by Dan Greene and Rick Omonte of New Haven, CT. in order to begin recording as many of Dan's songs as possible. Dan has hundreds of songs. Some of those songs have been singles of the week in The London Times, NME, and Melody Maker, recorded for a John Peel Session, many live BBC (throughout UK and Ireland) and XFM (London) broadcasts, as well as stages all over the East Coast of America and Europe.

Dan (guitar and singing) is a writer, a Justice of the Peace who has officiated nine weddings, a graduate with a master's in religion, an editor of the annual journal of poetry from Connecticut prisons, and for the last decade, an elementary school teacher who teaches all secular subjects at an Orthodox Jewish school. He also paints, draws, and makes books of poems, plays, and strange illustrated stories. His artwork can be seen on The Mountain Movers records and posters. Rick (bass, percussion, and noise) is an art installer, and also promotes live music events under the tag Shaki Presents, including his Sunday night series at Bar in New Haven which books bands from all over the world, like Dungen and Animal Collective. Together, they have been fortunate to record with many great musicians in the area. Dan also plays for The Butterflies of Love, while Rick plays for Crooked Hook.

The Mountain Movers is a collective with many interchangeable band members performing consistently solid songs. They have put out two full-length releases on Safety Meeting Records in New Haven: We've Walked in Hell (2006) and Let's Open Up the Chest (2008) which was recorded on 2 inch tape at Seaside Studio in Brooklyn. They also have a picture disc split vinyl 7 inch of the hit Fate's On Your Side. The first record was released in 2006 throughout the U.K. and Europe by Fortuna Pop records in London.

In addition to supporting Let's Open Up the Chest, they are hard at work on multiple recordings, which will be released in the near future. Live, they move from a 3 piece to a 6 piece, sometimes quiet, sometimes loud, but always dynamic, romantic, hypnotic, and entertaining. The Mountain Movers have shared the stage with Wolf Parade, The Akron Family, Josephine Foster, Gringo Star, The Lemonheads, and Ted Leo.
